The Opportunity Professor Arthur Lowery has been awarded a prestigious $3M Laureate Fellowship to develop the optimum combinations of electronic and photonic signal processing, with the aim of creating energy-efficient interchanges between optical and photonic communications systems. Monash is currently seeking innovative engineers and scientists to build a team to design an electro-photonic platform, on which we will demonstrate electro-photonic processing, including: signal regeneration, nonlinearity compensation and efficient and flexible optical transmitters and receivers. Together, our team will have skills in electronic and photonic chip design, microelectronic integration, electronic and photonic simulation, sub-system characterisation and terabit/s systems demonstrations. Over the next 3-5 years, our team will design, build and demonstrate novel ways of integrating photonics and electronics to bring down the cost and energy consumption of optical communication systems. Each role is full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
